Do’s and Dont’s of Client Gift Giving
2008-05-09 15:46:26

Mark Twain, paraphrased, once said, "The difference between the almost right word and the right word is the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning." The same can be said for client gifts. But, as you're probably aware, giving gifts to business associates has become trickier recently due to numerous cultural, gender, religious, and business considerations, and more recently to an economic atmosphere in which luxury and frivolity may not be appreciated. Nonetheless, it's worth the effort because gift giving is a great personal relations tool!

Well-done promo products keep company name front and center
2008-03-18 06:53:18

Promotional items are a nearly $19 billion industry each year, according to the Promotional Products Association International. That's a lot of imprinted t-shirts, mugs, calendars, pens and flashlights -- and it's also a tried and true way to put your company's name in front of people.

A promotional product is basically a tangible memory tool, one that can help people recall your company's name when they need your services. That's why the most common promotional items are things people use every day, including pens, totes and wearables such as hats and shirts. Other common products include jewelry, sporting goods, games, computer accessories, magnets and edible items.

The results of promotional product use are significant, according to a PPAI study. Its research found that 76 percent of survey respondents remembered an advertiser's name... read more »

Mobile Billboard Advertising
2008-03-07 15:51:01

By

In the digital age, companies that want to stay ahead need the tools to do so. Mobile marketing is one of those tools. This method of advertising allows businesses to connect to those that they need to, effectively. It allows the organization to spend messages to mobile phones to promote a product or a service. It also for them to tell their targeted audience that the store parking lot they just pulled into has something on sale. Or, it allows them to know that today is the last day for the lowest price of the seasons. Mobile marketing works for several reasons.

Convenience

Let’s face it. We are all working on finding the best way to accomplish all that we need to in the fastest, most convenient way. Mobile marketing allows individuals to receive the information they need to reach their goals, when they need it. It is convenient because it allows for not external needs. They don’t have to get online to see the ad. They... read more »

How To Select A Corporate Gift
2008-02-14 19:21:38

Corporate gifts are gifts given out by a boss or corporation to employees for a holiday or a company anniversary or to demonstrate appreciation for all of the hard work that the employee(s) have done over the preceding year(s). Corporate gifts are also given out to a valued client to let them know that their business is appreciated. Above all, a corporate gift is given to show appreciation for the recipient and it should never be cheap or cheap looking. One of the easiest ways to determine whether that business gift is a good choice is to think about whether it would make a good present for a family member. A good corporate gift should be a thoughtful token of appreciation for the recipient and should ideally be something that he or she can put to... read more »

DESIGNING EFFECTIVE DIRECT MAIL PART 2
2007-12-02 12:24:59

Design your mailing to BEAT your competition
-----------------------------------------------------

Realize this.  Your competition for direct mail is literally everyone who mails.  And today's buyers and consumers are more in touch with what is a "quality" mail piece, and what is "junk."

Your mailing is definitely competing for the attention of EVERYTHING ELSE that arrives in your prospects' mailbox.  You need to develop a quality piece---a piece that stands out in this crowded marketing medium.  Don't worry so much about "how cheap can I make this?"  Instead, ask yourself, "How much can I really afford to spend so mine makes it to the top of  the stack?"

Whats your CPB? (Part III)
2007-11-26 18:57:22

You should know by now 'what' a CPB is, and you should have given some thought to what yours will be.

What is it that really makes you and your business 'stand out' from all your competitors?

Is it your selection, is it your service levels,  is your delivery time, is it pricing... read more »

Designing Effective Direct Mail (Part 1)
2007-11-22 08:57:35

One of your best (and FREE) resources to get endless ideas for direct mail design is your own mailbox.  Every day you get good and bad ads mailed directly to you.

Pay close attention to the pieces that grab YOUR attention---is it the envelope, is it the postcard, is it the ad, etc?

What makes you OPEN the envelope, what makes you READ the ad, what motivates you to ACT now?

Pay careful attention to how it's addressed. Is the address printed on a label, or is it printed directly onto the piece?

What kind of font is used for the address? Did they use an indicia or a real stamp?

Now, decide WHAT grabbed your attention, and did you react in a positive or negative way to the piece?

The way YOU react and respond to the mail pieces you receive can assist YOU in your mail design.read more »

Whats Your CPB? (Part 2)
2007-11-19 18:16:45

You should know by now 'what' a CPB is, and you should have given some thought to what yours will be. What is it that really makes you and your business 'stand out' from all your competitors?

Is it your selection, is it your service levels, is your delivery time, is it pricing (I hope it's NOT,
especially 'lowest pricing?)

Like I said last time, you should give 'serious thought' to this.  Shut your door, turn off your
phone, your computer, your TV---whatever!  And go come up with your compelling CPB.

Make sure it 'makes sense' and is not just a bunch of mumbo jumbo wording.  Make sure yours actually 'means something.'

Think for a second.  What is Dominoes and Fed Ex's CPB? I'm not gonna tell 'ya---you should know.

Now, get this message (your CPB) out there and into the marketplace.  Put it everywhere...on your
letterhead, on... read more »

Whats your CPB? (Part 1)
2007-11-09 06:49:05

Every company and every business must have  a CPB. You're probably asking yourself, "What is
a CPB?"  Here's your answer. Company's Primary Benefit

The CPB must tell your customers and your prospects the single most compelling and beneficial advantage they'll receive by doing business with you and your business.  It basically tells everyone 'what' it is that puts you way ahead of your competition.

Many entrepreneurs try to be everything to everyone and they have no CPB.  What happens is...your  customers, your prospects and you don't know what you really do best or what you really stand for. If people (you or your staff) are unsure or confused about what it is that you and your company do, they simply won't take the time and bother to find out.

Remember this, though.  Don't just come up with anything. Take your time.  Think it through.  Plan it out.... read more »

Without a deadline, your offer is dead!
2007-11-07 09:35:31

Here's one very important marketing secret...

So many business owners and salespeople create offers or ads W I T H O U T  ever creating a deadline.

How foolish!!  You Must have a deadline with every offer you create.

It's very important to make your customer or prospect follow "your" imposed deadline, not theirs.

A deadline creates a sense of urgency, and makes your customer or propsect "act now."

If you'll notice, on nearly every special offer we create, we not only create a "date" deadline, but we also create a certain "time of day" the offer expires.

(example: this offer good until June 30 at 11:59 p.m.)

Also, make sure you, don't "cave in or deviate" from your deadline. Once you do, your customer knows you won't  "stick to your guns" and before you know it, they're telling you when your
deadline will... read more »

Whos Your Consultant? (Part 2)
2007-10-30 19:12:24

One thing you must realize is that your business can benefit greatly when you use your customers as your consultant...but you HAVE to decide if you can deliver it, then do it!

Don't just talk about it, but actually do it.  And make sure you deliver better than any of your competitors.

But make sure when you do deliver that you actully 'make some noise' about what you're delivering.  Let your customers know that you asked, you listened, and you delivered.  Say it everywhere...in your marketing materials, in your place of business, etc. Keep in mind, if you can (and do) deliver, it's not bragging.

This is a great 'lead in' to using powerful testimonials and let your future customers and prospects hear what you're satisfied customers are saying about you.

Whos Your Consultant? (Part 1)
2007-10-28 17:29:23

When you need some extra business, a 'cash infusion' in your business, or if you simply need more customers, the absolute best consultants that money can buy are absolutely FREE.

Who are you best consultants?  They're you own customers---right there under your nose.

The majority of business owners I speak with never even give it a thought to ask their current customers and clients what THEY want from them.

Business owners keep doing the same 'ole stale thing---and that 'thing' is offering services and products to their customers and prospects which they 'think' they want, and then they have to work like crazy to get the customers and prospects to buy what they're selling.
